After discussing via skype and email in detail with Matt in the last few days/week, I have decided to continue my travels bike-free through South America in order to add more variety to this trip. I hope to have more time now to take additional Spanish classes, do some extended volunteer work, be able to surf more (and likely travel with a board during a section of the trip), be able to do some hiking/mountaineering, really get to know certain cities/places well by staying there for extended periods of time, etc....

Matt will keep using the same blog (2bikes1continent) to post his updates, but we figured it would be easier to have two separate blogs to lessen the confusion for our blog readers. Although we will now have two different routes/itineraries, we hope to meet up again during different sections of the trip! Stay tuned!
