Learning Exchange
What South America could learn/adopt from the United States:
- High speed internet and online learning (Youtube, Khan Academy, etc)
- Bike-powered washing machine to save time and effort with laundry
- Electric motorbikes
- Diesel electric buses and trucks
- A healthier and balanced diet with greater variety of ingredients
- Trash management and educational resources to discourage littering
- Increased computer access to learn programming
What the United States could learn/adopt from South America:
- Carpooling/Ride sharing/hitchhiking using cars and/or motorbikes
- Taking more time to relax and finding comfort in doing nothing on off days/weekends
- Increased emphasis on family and hospitality towards guests/strangers
- Reusing, as opposed to recycling, glass soda/beer bottles
- Increased use of motorbikes for short trips involving only one or two people
- Giving cyclists more passing room on the roadside
- Use of cargo bikes for business and product transport
I´d add:
ReplyDelete- In South America, especially the countries in the North, they literally fix everything, at a very low cost.
- In Colombia, we saw the bucket thing that has the "squeezer" being sold on the streets...and really, that´s something that we haven´t seen anywhere in the continent!
I don´t necessarily agree with the healthy and balanced diet...we found the almuerzos to be very balanced, cheap, and nutritious (especially for cyclists). When you get to Argentina and Chile, they become so expensive that you then realise how good they were up North. Not sure you can get such balanced food as an almuerzo anywhere in the US
